“The Other Firm” to Develop Crediting Platform
August 27, 2009
After reviewing responses to a Request for Qualifications issued in early July, Bay Bank and Willamette Partnership have selected The Other Firm as the primary contractor for the development of a joint Bay Bank - Willamette Partnership ecosystem services crediting platform.
The selection of a developer for the ecosystem services platform is the culmination of a one of a kind partnership between Bay Bank and Willamette Partnership, two leading developers of ecosystem market infrastructure in the United States. While the two efforts are focused on different geographies and thousands of miles apart - Bay Bank is focused on the Chesapeake region and the Willamette Partnership works in Oregon’s Willamette Valley - the tools needed to facilitate the development of ecosystem markets are the same. This unique partnership will show how regional ecosystem market efforts can work together to achieve common goals and promote standardized approaches across the county.
The ecosystem services crediting platform will provide a number of tools. It will allow users to select practices, move through the credit development process for several different markets, calculate credits, and register credits. It will provide users with the information they need to go from general interest in ecosystem markets to participation in those markets. The crediting platform will be beta tested in early 2010 and available for use in late summer of 2010.
