Selling credits
The Bay Bank Marketplace allows buyers to view credits and/or expressions of interest in generating credits for particular markets that have been posted by the credit generator.
When a buyer locates a project that they are interested in, he or she can send an inquiry to the landowner over email. All transactions then occur outside of Bay Bank and are negotiated between the buyer and seller.
After a transaction occurs, the buyer and seller will notify the Bay Bank registry . Bay Bank offers buyers three types of “credits.” Each type of credit will provide a buyer with a different level of certainty:
- Expression of interest—a landowner has expressed interest in generating credits, but is waiting for demand to established before implementing conservation actions
- Advanced credits—a landowner has verified that his or her site conditions are suitable for credit generation.
- Registered credits—a landowner has implemented conservation practices according to market rules, has received confirmation from certifying agencies and the Bay Bank registry that his or her credits are now available for purchase.
