Market areas
Within each market area, Bay Bank provides landowners and service providers with the information they need to develop certified credits. Initially, Bay Bank is initially focusing on the six market areas below:
- Forest conservation: credit for maintaining, planting, and enhancing forest lands
- Traditional conservation programs: cost-share funding and technical assistance from state and federal agencies to implement conservation planning and actions
- Habitat conservation: credit for preserving and enhancing high-value habitats
- Carbon sequestration: planning for emerging markets that will incentive conservation actions that increase carbon storage.
- Water quality protection: credit for implementing practices that reduce nutrient pollution
- Wetlands conservation: funding for wetland protection and restoration
These market areas represent the most immediate opportunities for landowners. Bay Bank will incorporate new market areas as they begin offering financial incentives to landowners.
